Introduction
How-to Tutorial
Step1: Acquire the materials and preparation
For this I repurposed a 200mm diameter wooden candle centrepiece. I purchased a clock mechanism from an online retailer, which had a shaft long enough to go through the wood.
After taking measurements, I drilled a hole in the wood big enough for the mechanism to go into.
I then fitted the mechanism to the wood. As you can see, the hands of the clock are too long for the diameter of the clock face, so I decided to use the LP5 to cut them to length.
Step2: Cutting the hands
To make the end of the hand curved, I downloaded a curved .svg image (attached).
Once aligned it cut the metal in one pass like butter, in less than 1 second. I did this for each of the hands.
I then finished off the two brass hands with a heart logo, from the clipart on the LDS app. Additionally I engraved some text onto the second hand.

Step3: Creating the clock details
For a minimalistic and simplistic design, I used heart and circle shapes from the LDS app.
Cutting is simple, using 3mm MDF with the LP5.

Step4: Paint and fitting
I used satin oak stain on the wood, and red paint for the clock details.
Once dried, I used glue to attach the clock details to the face.
I then fitted the hands to the clock.
That's it, a really simple use of the LP5, for an effective and practical valentine's themed item.
