How-to Tutorial
Step 1 Cut Out the Shapes
- Task 1, Settings 1 - Load Rose, Aluminum Back, LP5. Hide the text, then cut out the shape on a 0.2mm Black Aluminum Business Card.
- Task 2, Settings 2 & 3 - Load Rose, Flower, LP5. Hide the text, then run the file on Red 2mm EVA Foam. The file has both settings 2 & 3 in the Group. The LP5 will engrave and then cut out the shape.
- Task 3, Settings 2 & 3 - Load Rose, Stem and Leaves, LP5. Hide the text, then run the file on Forest Green 2mm EVA Foam. The file has both settings 2 & 3 in the Group. The LP5 will engrave and then cut out the shape.
- Task 4, Settings 1 - Load Leaf, Back, Aluminum, LP5. Hide the text, then cut out the shape on a 0.2mm Black Aluminum Business Card.
- Task 5, Settings 3 - Load Leaf, Grn Leaf, LP5. Hide the text, then run the file on Forest Green 2mm EVA Foam. The LP5 will cut out the shape.
- Task 6, Settings 3 - Load Leaf, Stem, LP5, LP5. Hide the text, then run the file on Black 2mm EVA Foam. The LP5 cut out the shape

Step 2 Assemble the Rose and Leaf
Using Elmer's "Glue All" from Amazon, spread a thin, even coat of glue over the entire surface of the Aluminum cut-out from task 1. Then carefully place the Red Foam cutout and Green Foam cutout on the aluminum, and place the assembly between two flat surfaces until the glue dries. This will take at least two hours. A small piece of EVA foam can be used as a brush to spread the glue.
I use a cutting board, and a small piece of 3mm or 6mm plywood with a weight on top. The Aluminum may not be quite flat, so a weight on top insures the assembly will come out flat.
Repeat the above for the Leaf.
If desired, a small magnet ( D801-N52 - Neodymium Disc Magnet from K&J Magnetics) can be glued on the back using GOOP, from Amazon. This magnet is quite strong and I much prefer it over the weaker ceramic magnets. GOOP is somewhat flexible, very strong, and the magnet will not ever fall off. Superglue doesn't work as well and may not hold over time.
Note: Everything is sized such that an Aluminum business card can be used for the back. A larger rose can be made by scaling the file upward and using a larger sheet of 0.2mm aluminum, or even 0.4mm aluminum by increasing the number of cut passes, or 1.7mm plywood by changing the cut parameters from metal to wood. If you use wood for the backing, an LP4 can be used by adjusting the engrave and cut parameters.
