Jewelry box with Abalone and gold foil
操作説明
ステップ 1 Box Prep
The jewelry box was premade and purchased from Michaels Craft Store.
I recommend sanding the box to get it nice and smooth.
The box was then spray painted with black paint and left to dry for about 2 hours.
If you plan on spray painting the box, be sure to be in a well ventilated area.
ステップ 2 Abalone corners
The Abalone shell veneer was purchased online and arrive in very thin and fragile sheets.
Despite being fragile, they are very difficult to cut properly.
The design should not have any thin elements unless you have had lots of practice with the material.
It should come with a sticky/paper backing, which I found you want facing up when cutting.
The Abalone and the paper backing are easy to catch fire and will ruin the Abalone. So be very careful when cutting and watch closely (with eye protection of course!).
I cut out the four corners and removed the paper protection exposing the glue and just applied to the corners of the box.

ステップ 3 Gold flower and bird and Finishing the top.
The gold foil was applied to some wood veneer and used the LP4 to cut out the shapes of the humming bird and the flower.
These were then glued to the top of the jewelry box using super glue.
After this was allowed to dry, a thin coat of Clear Acrylic spray paint was applied to seal and protect everything.
ステップ 4 Interior
I used some wood glue to adhere the red felt to the inside of the box both the lid and box interiors.
You will need to supply your own jewelry to fill the box. :)
